Deer Park officer hit head-on by alleged drunk driver
Deer Park police say this crash is a reminder of why you don't want to drink and drive during Christmas.

DEER PARK, Texas (KTRK) -- A close call for one officer has Deer Park police reminding residents not to drink and drive this Christmas.

Authorities say an officer was hit head on by a wrong-way driver on Center Street while in his patrol vehicle last week.

Photos from the scene show just how violent the crash was, but fortunately, their injuries weren't as serious as the wreckage left behind.

The officer suffered minor injuries, while the driver was taken to a hospital for treatment and released.

Investigators said the driver was later arrested and charged with DWI.
