Columbus Day is considered a Federal Reserve Bank Holiday.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Monday is the federal holiday Columbus Day, so that means there are some closures you need to be aware of to start your week.

Banks vary by institution but Columbus Day is considered a Federal Reserve Bank Holiday. That means checks and deposits will not post to your account tomorrow but will appear the next business day.

Houston Federal Credit Union offices will be closed. It's best to check with your individual bank to see if offices and branches will be open.

There is no postal service on Monday except for Express Mail Next Day Service.

City, county and state offices remain open for Columbus Day. All Federal offices will be closed.

Trash service throughout Houston will continue as scheduled.
