Meet Stephanie Tsuru

Stephanie Tsuru moved to Houston in 2006 and immediately immersed herself into the community. At Yellowstone Academy and Star of Hope Mission, she focuses on literacy. Stephanie champions the Star of Hope GED program and was named Chief Literacy Advocate. She was president of the Yellowstone Guild and a board member of OneGoal, providing scholars the opportunity to attend college. Stephanie is both board member and classroom ambassador for iWRITE, a writing literacy organization. She's a founding member of the Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation Guild and co-founded The Curiosity Cruiser, a mobile classroom library. Stephanie serves on the Family Legacy board and leads a writing workshop in Zambia. She is a Champagne Cowgirl and supports TEACH, Ronald McDonald House, Houston Center for Literacy, Herman Park Conservancy, Books Between Kids, Neuhaus Education Center and Amazing Place. Stephanie and her husband, Frank, were honored by Habitat for Humanity, Living Water and Boy Scouts of America. Together they embrace the words of Gandhi, "You must be the change you wish to see in this world." They enjoy time with their 3 children and granddaughter, and driving vintage cars.
