20 semi-automatic rifles stolen in Kingwood burglary

KINGWOOD, Texas (KTRK) -- Police have released a sketch of a suspect who stole nearly two dozen semi-automatic rifles from a Kingwood gun store.

HPD and ATF have offered a reward of up to $8,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

The store owner told ABC13 this was the first time he's been broken into. The thieves made off with $20,000 worth of firearms.

A side window of the gun shop was broken out overnight.

The suspects managed to get 20 semi-automatic rifles out and get away before anyone knew what was happening.

The gun store has cameras, tied to the alarm system. Apparently, the window that was broken did not have alarms sensors on it, so the store does not have video of the suspects.

Police are now trying to see if any nearby businesses may have recorded what happened.

The ATF was on the scene getting a list of the stolen weapons from the store owner.

Typically stolen guns like these end up for sale outside the presence of law enforcement.

Each rifle is worth about $1,000 if bought legally.
