Floodwater invades Lake Jackson communities
Floodwater invades Lake Jackson communities days after Harvey's initial hit

LAKE JACKSON, Texas (KTRK) -- As the massive amount of water that fell across the region moves downstream and toward the Gulf, homes in Lake Jackson and other parts of Brazoria County are taking on water.

"It came in fast. I remember waking up this morning and we were looking out into the yard [...] within an hour and a half, we were looking at an inch of water in the house," said resident Brandon Hartman.

In one Richwood neighborhood, the floodwaters were knee-deep and appeared to be even deeper elsewhere.

Areas west of State Highway 288 and south of State Highway 6 remain under a mandatory evacuation order, while voluntary evacuations orders remain in effect for low-lying coastal areas and neighborhoods along the San Bernard River.
