HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One person is dead after a shooting in southwest Houston, police said.

Crime scene tape surrounds the corner on Beechaven Drive where the body of a man was found beside a pickup truck.

Neighbors said they've heard gunshots here before but have never seen anything like this.

"Me and my wife was sitting down eating dinner and we heard the shots. We didn't pay any attention. Then she got up and got a glass of water and saw the police and tape everywhere," said neighbor Errol Bell.

Police have not released the victim's identity. How many suspects were involved and who may have information are the questions they are trying to answer.

"Right now we're trying to get witnesses to see what we can get on that. We don't really have any good information right now," Lt. Larry Crowson, with HPD said.

While investigators haven't said what may be behind the shooting, neighbors who witnessed the aftermath say it should never end like this.

"It's getting bad. That is bad, I know that. For someone to lose their life like that. Behind nothing probably. Nobody needs to lose their life behind nothing," said Bell.
