HOUSTON (KTRK) -- American Heart Association is dedicated to building healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, the nation's leading causes of death. Let's unite to prevent heart disease and stroke.

It's time to put our hearts into it and Go Red for Women.

Help women across America take charge of their health in one doctor visit - a single Well-Woman Visit can give a head-to-heart-to-toe view of a woman's overall health.

An estimated 44 million women in the U.S. are affected by heart disease and stroke - the No.1 and No.5 killers of all women.

90 percent of all women have one or more risk factors for cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes.

Go Red For Women advocates for more research and swifter action for women's heart health.
