HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman armed with a knife who broke into a stranger's townhome has been arrested after a SWAT standoff.

It all started overnight at a townhome in the 2000 block of Beall Street at West 21st Street. A neighbor told Eyewitness News a woman somehow broke into the first story window of the townhome. The homeowner heard the break-in, fled the condo and called for help.

The suspect barricaded herself inside the townhome for about three hours, surrounded by a SWAT team outside.

The woman with the knife claims someone was trying to kill her.

Negotiators talked with her while she was inside the townhome, but the woman didn't surrender until a SWAT K-9 went after her. She was arrested shortly after 4:30am.
