Conroe police tell Eyewitness News that the men entered Jeff's Jewelry on Highway 105 and demanded money, jewelry and purses. One of the store employees drew a weapon and at least one suspect opened fire.

Multiple employees then returned fire with their weapons, killing one of the would-be-robbers just inside the store's entrance.

The other three fled in a white Dodge Charger, which was recovered not far from the store. Police say they have a good idea of who the suspects are but they've not caught them.

Three area schools were on a lockdown temporarily. It has since been lifted.

All of the store's employees and customers were uninjured.
