A 19-year-old man once named as a possible suspect in an Amber Alert has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Kevin Enrique Mejia was the suspect of an Amber Alert issued by the Katy Independent School District Police for a 13-year-old minor who went missing from her school bus stop.

Authorities say Mejia met the victim on a smartphone app, and began talking with her and exchanging messages.

HCSO Investigators, along with Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, arrested Mejia without incident at his home near the Sam Houston Tollway and Town Park in Houston.

The minor was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

Mejia is being held on a $35,000 bond. He's due to make his first court appearance tomorrow at 9am.
