RICHMOND, TX (KTRK) -- A man who says he's 'blessed to live in Ft. Bend County' is anonymously giving back to his community this holiday season.

According to the Ft. Bend County Sheriff's Office, the resident asked Sheriff Troy Nehls to have deputies distribute 50 $100 gift cards to families across the county that they thought could use the help.

"I'm at a loss for words, really appreciative," said Amy Fogle, who is a single mother of three.

Deputies began delivering the cards Wednesday morning. They targeted the Kendleton-Beasley area, the general Richmond-Rosenberg area, the Mission Bend/Four Corners area and the Arcola/Fresno area.

"The resident who donated the cards said he has been blessed to live in Fort Bend County and he wanted the cards to go to Fort Bend citizens who could appreciate the anonymous gift," said Sheriff Nehls. "I have told our deputies that once you do this, you will feel the joy in the spirit of giving.

"It makes your heart kinda feel full, which is nice," said FBCSO Sgt. Mary Torres.

Deputies say they've also noticed an added benefit of handing out the gift cards, telling Eyewitness News it helps destroy the public perception people should only interact with law enforcement when something is wrong.

Several of those who received the cards told us candidly that they intend not to keep them for themselves. They play to share the generosity with others who they deem less fortunate.
