The best hotel rewards programs revealed

If you book hotel rooms based on rewards, then you know sometimes is can be difficult to redeem your rewards.

Cardhub.com identified the best and worst hotel rewards programs for three different spending profiles: heavy traveler, moderate traveler and light traveler.

The best program overall was Wyndham Rewards across the board for all spending levels, followed by Drury Gold and La Quinta.

The worst of the hotel rewards program in this study was Starwood Preferred Guest, which includes brands like the Sheraton and the Westin.

If you get annoyed when rewards expire, Best Western is the only hotel chain that offers points that do not expire due to account inactivity.

All other hotel points expire after 12 to 24 months of inactivity.
