11-year-old shot in face in Cypress area expected to be OK, deputies say

CYPRESS, Texas (KTRK) -- An 11-year-old boy who was shot in the face Wednesday in a Cypress area neighborhood will recover, deputies said.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Precinct 5 deputies responded to the shooting in the 19700 block of Ridge Falls Court.

Deputies found the child with a gunshot wound to his cheek.

The child was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in downtown Houston, where he's in good condition.

The sheriff's office said the shooting appeared accidental and self-inflicted.

Still, homicide detectives investigated the incident and were interviewing witnesses and family members.

It was not immediately known if any charges will be filed.
