Couple escapes as fire engulfs home in NE Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two people escaped with their lives after their home went up in flames in northeast Houston.

The fire happened just before 5:30am at a home on Carothers Street at Homestead Road.

Firefighters say a man and a woman were able to get out without injury.

The house has extensive damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
