Katherine Whaley goes back to high school
Go Mustangs Go! abc13 traffic reporter Katherine Whaley returned to her alma mater Memorial High School.

HOUSTON -- Hard to believe it's been 15 years since I graduated from Memorial High School (Class of 2000!), in Spring Branch Independent School District.

I had the chance to visit campus in West Houston with one of my favorite former teachers, Teri Bono. Teri taught my Computer Literacy class my junior year, and we are still good friends to this day.

Memorial has always been known for its academic excellence, and I loved learning! I was blessed to have teachers who were passionate about the subjects they taught.

They inspired me to study hard, and continue pursuing my interests as a college student in Rice University. Memorial High School frequently lands in US News and World Report's Top 100 high schools and is ranked in the top ten in Texas.

I also played on the varsity tennis team at MHS, and I continue to play today.

Fun fact: I was also known for organizing "pot luck" lunches at high school. A big group of high school seniors would each bring a dish and share with the group. I've always enjoyed cooking and entertaining!
