Deadly shooting under investigation in NW Harris Co.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- At least one person is dead after a shooting in northwest Harris County.

This happened around 8:30pm at Vickie Springs near Northwest Park. When Harris County Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene they found one person shot in the head. That person did not survive.

A neighbor told Eyewitness News what she heard.

"We were all sitting in the living room and we started hearing the gunshots. There were two quick to actually count them," said the neighbor who didn't want to be identified.

She also said he heard returned fire - or what seemed to be returned fire. She didn't want to be identified in fear for her safety. It appears that family members of the victim arrived on the scene and were clearly distraught.

The victim hasn't been identified. We are waiting to learn whether anyone is in custody or whether the Harris County Sheriff's investigators have identified a suspect. An investigation is underway.
