Kingwood HS welcomes alum Patricia Lopez
abc13's Patricia Lopez goes back to the halls of her alma mater, Kingwood High School.

KINGWOOD, TX (KTRK) -- It's called the Livable Forest -- Kingwood! And back in the early 1990s, Kingwood had just one high school -- Kingwood High School, home of the Mustangs.

A lot has changed since then, from the classrooms to the hallways to the high school gym.

It was 21 years ago, but people say the more time goes by, the more you forget but I still remembered our high school pledge, "Through life's struggles, we call Kingwood's Blue and White."

While most of my teachers have moved on, there was one I had no idea was still there -- Spanish teacher, Senor Bowman!

I also had a chance to meet future journalists.

Kingwood is where I learned how to write content for the school yearbook, where I learned how to take pictures and where I dreamed of being a professional journalist.

But it was on the golf course where I spent most of my time.

And I took it seriously, on the range and on the green, striking ball after ball after ball under the direction of former high school women's golf coach Louis Garcia.

Coach Garcia was also my economics teacher and my mentor, and made our team believe that we had what it took to win, and boy did we. In 1992, our team took home the Texas State 5A Girls' golf team championship. It was a team that wasn't even supposed to make it to state, so we were just happy to get there...and ended up winning it all.

Did you go to high school in Houston? We'd love to see and share some of your old photos. Email them to us at news@abc.com or post them using #abc13eyewitness
