85-year-old jewelry thief arrested in Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA -- An elderly jewelry thief with a rap sheet that stretches from Southern California around the world is allegedly at it again.

Doris Payne, 85, has been arrested for stealing a $700 pair of earrings from an Atlanta-area store.

It's just the most recent incident in Payne's criminal career. Payne, who at one point lived in Long Beach, has struck several times in Southern California and was even the subject of a documentary.

She's now facing a theft charge in Georgia and is wanted for similar crimes in North Carolina.
