Open Houston-area grocery stores see long lines during power outages

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- If you're still looking to stock up on food or necessities, there are a few stores and businesses still open Tuesday amid the winter weather.

You are advised to be careful while out on the roads, and only drive out to these stores if necessary.

Lines at Houston-area stores began to grow Tuesday afternoon as Houstonians seek food during mass power outages.

The line at the Kroger on Bissonnet began to stretch out the door and around the building. Patrons in line said they were on the hunt for non-perishable items they could eat while waiting for the power to return.

In Pearland, the parking lot at on H-E-B location was swamped as customers arrived for curbside pickup orders.

The line stretched well past the store into the road.

All Houston stores are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

At any time, store hours could be adjusted according to local conditions.
