HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One of five people found shot early Monday between two related scenes in north Houston is accused of being the gunman in the deadly incident.

According to Houston police, 28-year-old Tracye Cash is being charged with capital murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Investigators found Cash suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound just after midnight Monday in the 700 block of East Whitney Street.

Officers also found 27-year-old Robert Palmer and 25-year-old Patrick Rashad Price wounded at the scene. Price was lying on the street behind a vehicle while Palmer was lying nearby on a driveway. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man and a woman also sustained injuries from the shooting. They drove to a Whataburger on the North Freeway service road to seek help. They were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.

Police said the man and woman, whose identities were not disclosed, were traveling in a vehicle when the shooting happened, and investigators believe they are innocent bystanders.

Police did not immediately say how they determined Cash as the suspect in the case.

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Palmer's sister told ABC13 she believes one of her brother's friends fired the shots that killed Robert. She added that police told her Robert was in a driver's seat of a vehicle when the gunshots were fired from the back seat.

As of Tuesday, Cash remains in the hospital recovering from his gunshot. Police did not specify how he was shot.
