1 dead after pickup crashed into building on Telephone Road in southeast Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One person is dead after a pickup hit a building in southeast Houston in an early morning crash.

The accident happened in the 4700 block of Telephone Road at about 7 a.m.

Police say a Ford F-150 fishtailed, left the roadways and slid about 170 feet into a mechanic shop.

The driver, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was ejected and died at the scene.

A couple of vehicles inside the building were damaged. Nobody was inside the shop at the time.

EMS crews pronounced the driver dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.

This deadly wreck comes just hours after two people were killed in northwest Harris County when a car crashed into the front lobby of a Super 8 Motel.
