Wrong-way crash
Investigators believe driver who caused wrong-way crash was impaired.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A wrong-way driver caused a major crash on the Southwest Freeway at Newcastle. It happened just after midnight on Monday.

Police say the wrong-way driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he clipped a truck and hit another car. After that, two other vehicles were unable to avoid the crash.

In all, five vehicles were involved in the crash, including the suspect's.

The wrong-way driver's vehicle and another car suffered extensive damage. Amazingly, no one was seriously hurt.

Meigha House witnessed the crash and called 911 right after it happened.

"I stopped to see what was going on, to see if I could help or anything," said House.

Police believe the wrong-way driver was impaired. They took him to the hospital to be checked out. No word on whether he's been charged.
