Continued issues in Brazoria County
West Columbia lifts mandatory evacuations but there's no sewer service available for homes.

WEST COLUMBIA, Texas (KTRK) -- Officials have lifted the mandatory evacuations for residents living in West Columbia, Brazoria County. A voluntary evacuation is in place but it is not advised that residents return home and try to stay.

That's because many homes are still flooded with at least a foot of water and there is no working sewer system.

Residents of Sweeny were returning home Monday to see the devastation dealt to their homes and businesses.

ABC13's Steve Campion is in Lake Jackson today where National Guard soldiers have been deployed to help pump water out of the neighborhoods after residents pleaded for help draining the water. He will have a live report on the conditions there today at 4:30 p.m.
