Woolly bear caterpillar believed to predict harshness of winter
Here's how some believe these furry little creatures predict how mild or harsh winter will be.

Want to know how harsh this winter will be? The woolly bear caterpillar may have a good prediction.

"The folklore says, the more brown they have, the milder the winter will be. The more black, the harsher the winter," according to AccuWeather.

Festivals celebrating the caterpillars, also known as "woolly worms," are held every year across the continent from North Carolina to Ontario.
