Summer leftovers for the weekend

Chief meteorologist Tim Heller has the latest forecast.

Summer officially started on Friday. Chief Meteorologist Tim Heller is serving up some summer leftovers with temperatures reaching the low 90s both Saturday and Sunday and the heat index in the upper 90s.

Isolated downpours could develop during the afternoon hours, but Tim says most Houston area neighborhoods will stay dry.

The chance of rain will be going up next week, however. More numerous scattered thundershowers are possible Tuesday and Wednesday with widespread storm likely on Thursday. Tim says a slow-moving cool front will combine with deep tropical moisture to dump several inches of rain across Texas. It's still too early to determine how much rain we'll get here in Houston, so keep checking the forecast thru the weekend.
