If you're going to be outside here are some cold weather tips from the National Weather Service.

1. Dress in Layers

Gloves, hats and a heavy coat can keep you from losing too much body heat so your core temperature stays warm.

2. Don't Forget Your Pets

They're cold too so don't leave them outside and if you do make sure they have a warm shelter.

3. Practice Space Heater Safety

If you're going to use a space heater, make sure you place it on a hard surface and keep it at least three feet away from flammable items that includes, rugs, curtains and bedding.

4. Use a Glass or Metal Screen for Fireplaces

If you use a fireplace make sure that it's covered with a glass or metal screen so embers don't get on the floor or spread.
