Already-saturated streets flood with new showers
The recent showers are being produced by tropical moisture in the Gulf of Mexico combined and remnants of Hurricane Odile in the Pacific

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Another round of storms Friday drenched already-saturated Houston streets, causing flooding all across the city.

A Flood Watch was in effect until 7pm, but that's been allowed to expire.

Our Doppler radar estimates over the last three days are putting out amounts close to eight inches for some parts of town.

County leaders are asking you to avoid Greenhouse Road north of Interstate 10.

South Mayde Creek in West Harris County is still out of its banks, though water levels are said to be receding. Water from the creek has spilled over onto area roadways. But that's not the only part of town which has seen flooding Friday.

High water was reported at 33 locations around Houston, according to the Harris County Office of Emergency Management.

Cullen Park flooded as Addicks Reservoir did what it designed to do - trapping water to keep it from entering nearby homes. But rescuers had to use airboats and high-profile vehicles to pluck at least four people from the park after they became stranded by high water. One of those victims, looking shaken after her rescue, told us she is "very, very thankful."

We saw at least a dozen cars stalled at the intersection at Sage and South Rice north of the Southwest Freeway. The water at one point covered the entire intersection. One stranded driver, who only wants to be identified as Robert, said the water surprised him.

"It comes up fast! And I feel like a fool for not going north in stead of south," he said.

All rain should dry up by sunset, or shortly after.

The showers the last few days are being produced by tropical moisture blowing in off the Gulf of Mexico combined with the moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Odile in the eastern Pacific. The atmosphere should begin to dry out later today, limiting rainfall development, but even then a few downpours are possible anywhere in the area.

Over the weekend, the rain chances go down, but temperatures go up a little.
