HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A new scanner arriving at Hobby Airport could mean leaving your laptops and liquids in carry-on bags.

The TSA plans to test "computed tomography" scanners at Hobby and 14 other airports nationwide over the next few months.

The equipment creates a 3-D image that can be analyzed for explosives and other threats.

It's similar to technology used for medical imaging.

Current screening machines only create 2-D images.
