Overturned RV blocks Gulf Freeway at Dixie Farm Road for hours during commute

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An overturned recreational vehicle caused a massive commuter nightmare on the Gulf Freeway for evening rush hour.

The RV flipped over on the southbound lanes of I-45 at Dixie Farm Road at about 2pm. Hours later, all lanes were blocked, and traffic became backed up nearly to the South Loop. Drivers stranded on the roadway ultimately got out of their vehicles, and found themselves in a position for neighborly chatting, until the big vehicle could be cleared.

There were no reports serious injuries or any kind of spills or leaks. After 6:45pm, crews finally got the RV righted and cleared from the freeway.
