Jeff Ehling reporting live from the FM 1960 fatal crash.

Houston Police say they started chasing a motorcycle rider around 1:40 this morning when he refused to pull over for a traffic stop.

The man on the motorcycle took police on a chase that stretched several miles. Transtar cameras caught much of the action as he sped away from police.

Eventually the motorcyclist got on to FM 1960 at 249 eastbound.

Police had a helicopter in the air and cruisers on the road following the suspect.

That's when he got to the intersection at FM 1960 and crashed into a pickup truck.

Police say the man on the motorcycle died at the scene.

As of now, we don't know his name, age or why he chose to run from police.

FM-1960 will be shut down in both directions at US-59 due to deadly motorcycle accident, so plan for an alternate route.
