Major closure on I-45 could affect your drive this weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Headed to or from the Dallas Fort Worth area this weekend? Allow a little extra time for that road trip.

I-45 will shut down both directions at SH-75, in Walker County, for the demolition of the SH-75 overpass.

Lanes shut down at 8 p.m. on Friday and reopen at 4 a.m. on Monday.

All traffic will be diverted to the feeder or SH-75. TxDOT crews will eventually expand the freeway to six lanes.

Additionally, a portion of METRORail's red line will shut down this weekend for landscape work in the Midtown area.

The rail line will close between the Burnett Transit Center and the TMC Station on Saturday and Sunday, from the start of service through 10 p.m. Shuttles will be provided.
