A big rig fire has shut down the Eastex Freeway inbound at the San Jacinto River

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- All lanes of the Eastex Freeway southbound at the San Jacinto River are back open after a fire had it shut down for hours this morning.

An 18-wheeler caught fire on the roadway, prompting authorities to shut all lanes down at around 3am.

Two lanes of the freeway opened back up at around 8am, and by 1pm, all lanes opened up.

HazMat crews worked to clean up the area and remove all of the materials from the big rig before it could be moved.

The driver was able to detach from the trailer.

There's no word on how the fire started. No injuries were reported.
