Regulators considering lifting ban on phone calls during flights
Federal regulators are considering lifting the ban on phone calls during flights.

In what's likely to be a very polarizing proposal, federal regulators are considering allowing phone calls during flights.

Federal restrictions and airline rules currently ban calls, but the U.S. Department of Transportation is proposing to let each airline decide if they'll allow phone calls using the flight's WiFi.

Airlines would have to tell customers about the policy before buying their ticket. There's also a 60-day comment period that's sure to be lively.
