HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The ATF is hoping just-released video, combined with a big reward, will help them solve a serious burglary which happened around the corner from Helen Major Elementary in north Houston.
The video features a heavy set man, wearing a black jacket, a hoodie, white tennis shoes, and a multi-colored hat stealing seven tactical rifles from an EZ Pawn on FM 1960 near Kuykendahl.
"It happened just down the street from a school, this happened shortly after 7 a.m. when parents were literally dropping off their kids to school and that brings us a lot of concern," said Nicole Strong, Senior Special Agent of the ATF Houston Field Office.
Worrisome, too, is what happens to those weapons next.
"They can go across the border, they can also be traded for other property or drugs, but regardless of where they go, nothing good is going to come from it," said Strong.
There was also a suspicious vehicle in the area at the time: a black Dodge Ram with tinted windows, chrome door handles, and stock 20-inch alloy wheels.
The ATF, Crime Stoppers, and the National Shooting Sports Foundation are joining to offer a $10,000 reward in this case.
The ATF says anyone with information about this crime can contact them at 1-800-ATF-TIPS (800-283-8477), email ATFTips@atf.gov, or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS. You can also make an anonymous tip online at www.crime-stoppers.org
