ATASCOCITA, Texas (KTRK) -- One man is dead after being shot in the head in northeast Harris County. The suspect is still on the run.

Neighbors say they heard at least two gunshots, and then moments later saw at least two men running away from the home on Crestline Road near Atascocita.

One of the men who ran from the scene spoke briefly to a neighbor saying that he needed help, but he did not stick around.

Investigators say a man in his 20s was found dead inside the home after being shot in the head.

Detectives say people were in and around the home at the time of the shooting. They remained on the scene to be questioned by police throughout the night.

Neighbors say they were surprised to hear gunshots, and were surprised by their encounter with the man running from the home.

"He said that he needed help and my husband told him to stay there, that we would call police and that's what we did," said Lina Rivera.

Witnesses who were inside the home at the time of the shooting would not speak with ABC13.

Officials have not released a description of the shooter.
