HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- After almost two months on the run, a man wanted for murder is now behind bars.

Sources said Jamie West was arrested at his mom's house in San Antonio. He's currently in the San Antonio jail.

West is charged with killing 30-year-old Derrick Moore on Merle Street in Sunnyside.

Moore's neighbor, Michael Brown, knew him well.

"He called me uncle, but we were just neighbors," said Brown.

Brown said Moore was a good man who was getting his life together.

"Just a nice guy, stayed at home, never bothered nobody," said Brown.

Court records said West was upset because a man was flirting with his ex-girlfriend. Documents stated he left her house, went and got a gun and returned.

Officers said instead of killing the man, he killed Moore.

Moore died just feet from his home.

"His daddy had just went to the store. He come back around and he see his son laying in the yard, right over where the cross at, dead. It was heartbreaking," said Brown.

Sources believe Moore was not the intended target.

His family recently moved from the house, but a piece of Moore is still there. His family has a cross and memorial at the scene.

"I miss him though. He will be very well missed," said Brown.
