West U player wins Home Run Derby in Cooperstown
Twelve-year-old Katcher Halligan from West University put on a performance in the Home Run Derby that they'll be talking about for years to come.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Last Sunday Craig Biggio was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame but he wasn't the only Houstonian who stood out in Cooperstown.

Twelve-year-old Katcher Halligan from West University put on a performance in the Home Run Derby that they'll be talking about for years to come. Halligan and his Houston Mustangs teammates are playing in a tournament in Cooperstown's All-Star Village; Catcher is representing the Mustangs against 47 other sluggers in the Home Run Derby.

Katcher needed to beat 11 home runs and he hit 19 on just 24 pitchers.

"I knew the kid had 11 and when I got to about 8 I realized that I had a chance to beat him," said Katcher. "Once I beat him I was all relaxed from there and I ended up hitting 19."

"It was amazing. He got into his groove. He was hitting them everywhere - left field, right field - it didn't matter. He was hitting them everywhere and they were going out like 30, 40, 50 feet," said Katcher's father, Kenny Halligan.
