Vet gets new home at Birdies for the Brave
A veteran was presented with a mortgage-free home at the Birdies for the Brave golf tournament in Katy on Saturday.

KATY, TX (KTRK) -- At the annual Birdies for the Brave golf tournament on Saturday, Dustin Kirby got the gift of a lifetime: a mortgage-free home.

The Military Warrior Support Foundation presented the home to Kirby, a 9-year Navy veteran who was injured in combat while serving in Iraq.

"It's a wonderful foundation for me and my family to have, moving forward into the future. It takes a lot of worry out of stuff and I can really focus on my family and my kids," Kirby told Eyewitness Sports.

Kirby lives with his wife and their four small daughters in northern Georgia.

The money raised at the tournament, which took place at Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club in Katy, goes to causes that support veterans.
