LAS VEGAS BOWL: University of Houston focused on bowl game preparations
LAS VEGAS, NV (KTRK) -- The University of Houston enjoyed a busy Thursday in Las Vegas, getting prepared for Saturday's match-up against San Diego State.
All the while, team officials suspended Chance Allen, team officials said, after he broke curfew rules Friday night.
Major Applewhite, the new head coach of UH, is keeping with the same formula and game plan as his predecessor, Tom Herman. The Cougars are playing with the same mindset and energy.
The feel during practice at Las Vegas Bishop Gorman High School was the same as on campus at the University of Houston.
"This team is tight. This team is very tight. That is the culture that we have. We talk about doing it for the love of your brothers," Applewhite said. "Everyone understands these seniors have done a lot for us, everyone. Every single person."
UH will get to enjoy the sights of the Las Vegas strip from over 500 feet Thursday night as they ride the popular "High Roller" at the Linq.
We broke the news to some of the players that are afraid of heights.
"Who is getting on a Ferris wheel? I like the ground just the way it is," UH defensive tackle Ed Oliver said.
Wide receiver Chance Allen echoed Oliver's sentiments.
"I am not going to get up there by myself. Oh no. I'm scared," Allen added.
