2 arrested for brutal assault on 2 fans at 49ers game
Santa Clara police have arrested two men for felony assault in connection with a brutal assault on two fans at Sunday's 49ers game.

SANTA CLARA, CA -- Santa Clara police are investigating a brutal assault after two fans were attacked at just before kickoff at Sunday's 49ers game. Police say it happened in one of the bathrooms at Levi's Stadium.

Police say they arrested two men for felony assault.

Investigators say the attack happened in a bathroom in the 300 mezzanine section in the north side of the stadium.

The two male victims were taken to the hospital and a source tells ABC7 that the injuries to one of the victims are severe injuries to the head.

Santa Clara police aren't releasing the names of anyone involved and won't even say if the people were 49ers fans, Chiefs fans, or both.

But they did say this is the second reported assault to have occurred at Levi's Stadium since it opened.

"We've had two incidents at the stadium," said Lt. Kurt Clarke in a phone interview. "One being a domestic violence assault, and now coupled with this assault right now, so we've had two assaults, slightly different as far as charges, but assaults they are."

In an email, 49ers spokesperson Roger Hackers wrote: "The 49ers are aware of the incident and have been in close contact with Santa Clara police to assist in any way possible on the matter."
