HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Tough break for Texans quarterback Ryan Mallet. We learned his morning that he is out for the rest of the season with a torn pectoral muscle.

Eyewitness Sports learned of Mallett's injury yesterday, and today we were told it will keep him sidelined the rest of the year.

He was hurt in the win against Cleveland, then aggravated it in warm-ups before the Cincinnati game and tried to play through the pain.

Teammates Duane Brown and Brian Cushing says it showed how tough Mallett was and how badly he wanted to play.

Mallett was very erratic against the Bengals, completing just 21 of 45 passes for 189 yards with one interception. After the game, Mallett didn't say he was injured.

With Mallett's injury, look for Ryan Fitzpatrick to start Sunday against Tennessee.
