HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Incredible to see the "Texans for DQ" shirts all over the practice field and in the stands. Atlanta's offensive linemen got in on the act, too. The official proclamation came from City Hall, backing the effort in support of Texans lineman David Quessenberry as he fights to beat lymphoma. It's inspiring what can be done when everyone gets involved and gets behind something like this.

Arian Foster talked today in the same form he displayed the first time he spoke in camp. This time he basically said "working hard" for almost every answer.

On the field, an uneven day at best for the Texans offense. The struggles to connect in the passing game led to frustration from the coaching staff, starting with head coach Bill O'Brien. Repeated attempts from Ryan Fitzpatrick failed to connect. Some were well off the mark. Tough to tell if the receivers are where they're supposed to be, but either way, there were VERY rough patches today.

Great to see former Elkins and A&M offensive lineman Jake Matthews today. He looked outstanding manning the right tackle position for the Falcons in team drills. Yes, he got beat by JJ Watt for what would have been a sack. But JJ beats everybody else, too. Matthews looks like a great young player well on his way to an outstanding career. His footwork is already high level, NFL stuff.

DeAndre Hopkins drew a flag for the officiating crew when he punched one of the Falcons defensive backs in the facemask. Hopkins outburst came after an incompletion and a lot of trash talk from the Atlanta DBs. There were other confrontations as action started to heat up. It's inevitable when two teams see each other that much in that kind of heat.

Xavier Su'a Filo continues to work all over the offensive line. Really impressed with his work at guard but also at tackle and even some at center. He's a load and when he gets his hands on you, he can drive you backwards. Really did a nice job when I watched him in team drills and his attitude is fantastic. Really enjoyed talking with the rookie from UCLA today.

I still can't tell what Travis Labhart's athleticism will allow him to do in live, NFL action. But I can tell you he makes plays every day. Today included a one hand catch and a deep strike down the sidelines, both against the Falcons defense.
