HOUSTON -- Both Case Keenum and Tom Savage had one more opportunity Thursday to show they deserve to be the Texans backup quarterback behind starter Ryan Fitzpatrick. Neither took advantage.
Keenum was 8 for 17 for 70 yards and an interception and Savage was 8 for 12, also with a pick, in the Texans 40-13 loss to San Francisco at NRG Stadium.
The quarterbacks weren't the only disappointments for the Texans Thursday. The defense gave up more than 360 yards to the Niners. San Francisco QB Josh Johnson torched Houston for 135 yards and three touchdowns in relief of Blaine Gabbert.
For the Texans, there were only a couple of bright spots - Randy Bullock's 52-yard field gaol in the second quarter and Andre Hal's second pick six of the preseason.
The Texans finished the preseason 2-2 and will host the Washington Redskins in the home opener next Sunday.
