HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The late Jose Lima was one of a kind. The former Houston Astros pitcher had a passion and bravado that was unmatched, which was coined "Lima Time."

His son, Jose Lima Jr., is a pitcher at Lutheran South Academy. Lima Jr. still idolizes his father and tries to honor him every time he goes on the mound.

"I like having the same name as him," Lima Jr. said. "He left a legacy and I like to carry it on. I don't know if I get as excited as my dad, but I definitely get pretty excited."

Lima Jr. has fond memories of his father, growing up in several Major League Baseball clubhouses. One of the ways he honors his father, is by writing inspiring notes on the underside of his hat.

"I've got Lima Time, and my favorite bible verse, Isaiah 41:10," he said. "On my game hat, I have stay down, stay on top, and use the fast ball. That's what my dad had on his hat."

Lima Jr. credits his father for his love of the game.

"The game will treat you bad, it will treat you good, but he was always enjoying it, no matter what," he added.
