The LaMarr Woodley era in Oakland is over after a year, as expected.

Woodley has long been expected to be one of Oakland's roster cuts. On Sunday, CSN Bay Area reported he will be cut this week. Oakland also will officially cut safety Tyvon Branch as soon as Monday.

The Raiders signed Woodley to be a defensive difference-maker in 2014. However, the former Pittsburgh Steelers star's season ended prematurely for the 3-13 Raiders because of a biceps injury in October.

Oakland had signed Woodley, 30, to a two-year, $12 million deal over the offseason after he was cut by the Steelers.

Woodley was unproductive as a Raider, with just five tackles in six games. He was due a roster bonus this month. Oakland likely will have more than $60 million in salary-cap room in free agency when it begins March 10.

Adding at defensive end will be a primary need for Oakland, which also has the No. 4 overall pick in the draft. The Raiders had a league-low seven sacks from defensive ends last season and 22 sacks overall, which was tied for the second fewest in the NFL.
