Texans' Andre Johnson gets back into action
The team's star running back is back at Texans training camp, and the players are getting acquainted with some hands-on coaching

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Arian Foster's one answer to every question "I'm just trying to be the best teammate I can be." Every question, same answer. His health: "I'm just trying to be the best teammate I can be." His view of the offense: "I'm just trying to be the best teammate I can be." You get the idea. Interesting after the Texans players were just drilled by the media staff under Bill O'Brien.

On the field today, Foster got extra attention from the training staff, stretching and working on the side during some drills. He looked fine with what I saw when he practiced but he was clearly making sure he doesn't aggravate an injury and miss any more time.

I tweeted this today: "One word from #Texans team passing drill - Labhart." The undrafted rookie from A&M picked up blitzes pre-snap, ran the proper routes and made plays in the 11 on 11 sessions. CB Elbert Mack slammed his helmet to the ground after he was beaten by Labhart for a score. He's come miles from the first day of rookie mini-camp when he ran the wrong route and the coaches screamed out "Don't they have that route at A&M!?!?!" Labhart also returned punts in drills today with very sure hands.

If Jadeveon Clowney is still limited in drills it's not by much. He worked in the team drills later in practice and moved around well.

It's hit and miss right now for all the quarterbacks. Some of that is their fault but certainly not all. Everyone's had a ton thrown at them and it's not realistic for everyone to be on the same page yet.

I had a great time talking with LB Justin Tuggle today. I noticed that he danced around during stretching and that stands out when it's hot and the pads have been on for a third day. Tuggle has a great attitude and smile and he's loving his shot at playing linebacker in this new defense. He told me he's come miles since he was a rookie last year after making the transition from quarterback to linebacker earlier in his career. Tuggle moves around in the new defense and looks more and more comfortable.

Speaking of those linebackers, Asst Coach Mike Vrabel pushes them hard. After practice ended Vrabel led a conditioning drill based on the snap count. It's a great illustration of the mix of mental and physical demands that this staff emphasizes. Everybody wants to go hard and nobody wants to be the one to mess up.

Center Chris Myers talked about the competition up front in team drills. "If you don't think it's full speed then you haven't been watching." The offense celebrated a TD run from Andre Brown with loud whoops and a group hug in the end zone. Beating your teammates matters and the offense did more of that today.

Interesting day for DeVier Posey. He was covered by Bill O'Brien in an early drill. Kind of a "let's see what you got" moment. Later Posey suffered the drop of the day. Wide open in the end zone and flat dropped it, but that looks like a rare miss in a good start to camp for the third year player from Ohio State.

Nose tackle Louis Nix got out the boxing gloves for a little extra conditioning work as he continues to work his way back. No idea how close he is to getting into the camp mix, but Nix works hard on the side.

Players like RB Alfred Blue, LB Jason Ankrah and DE Keith Browner ran those lonely laps around the field after making mental errors. It's a daily staple now under O'Brien.

T Duane Brown appeared to have a little trouble with the heat today. He got extra cold towels before getting a ride back to the locker room.
