GEICO Bassmaster Classic underway on Lake Conroe

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- For the first time in the event's 47-year history, the GEICO Bassmaster Classic is underway in the Houston-area.

The tournament kicked off Friday morning at Lake Conroe in Montgomery County. Fifty-two anglers hope to reel in the biggest largemouth bass.

A $300,000 grand prize is up for grabs.

The weigh-in for the fishing competition takes place at Minute Maid Park. Also, there is an expo taking place inside the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Admission to the expo is free.
