Texans players react to Clowney injury
Jadeveon Clowney is out four to six weeks after tearing his meniscus against Washington

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Houston Texans have lost number one draft pick Jadeveon Clowney for several weeks.

He was injured in Sunday's win over Washington at NRG Stadium. On Monday afternoon, we learned more about his injury and what's being done about it.

Clowney, the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft will be out for the next 4 to 6 weeks. Texans Coach Bill O'Brien told us that Clowney has already undergone arthroscopic surgery on his knee.

When asked to confirm reports that Clowney suffered a torn meniscus in the first half of Sunday's game, Coach O'Brien said, "I'm not a doctor."

According to the NFL network, Clowney told Texans safety DJ Swearinger that he had stepped in a hole in the NRG Stadium turf when he was injured.

Coach O'Brien was asked if Clowney was hurt stepping in between the trays of grass that make up the playing surface at NRG.

"He didn't' say anything to me about that. Looking at all the angles on film, he just came down awkwardly," said O' Brien. "Most of those types of injuries are non-contact. He just jumped in the air and came down awkwardly on it."

The Texans will miss Clowney. His development has already been hampered by injuries, including sports hernia surgery, a concussion during practices with Denver and now this.

Meanwhile, the turf at Reliant will be the focus of scrutiny.
