Maxx Chrest and the Cy-Fair Bobcats have lofty goals in 2014. They open the year at No. 1 in the CFISD football power rankings.

We've been teased by 7-on-7, spring practice and scrimmages. But this week, football is back.

That means it's time for the return of the CFISD football power rankings.

Every week until the end of the regular season, I rank CFISD's football teams from No. 1 to 10.

A few notes on the power rankings:

- Each edition - including this one - is simply where I think each team stands at the moment. It's never a playoff projection.

- After Week 2, the rankings surely will change constantly on a weekly basis. A lot can determine if a team moves up or down or stands pat: current performance in any given week, who the opponent was, how the teams above or below fared, head-to-head comparisons, winning or losing streaks, etc.

- The power rankings mainly serve as a talking point to create debate. So, feel like a team is too high or low? Think they're all wrong? Please let me know on Twitter (@CyFairSports) or e-mail me at acoleman@hcnonline.com. I encourage different opinions.
