2015 Houston marathon lottery registration open

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Lottery registration opened at midnight for the 2015 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon.

Runners wanting to be considered for next year's race have until June 19 to register. Runners will then find out if they were selected on June 23.

The 2015 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon has a cap of 25,000 participants. 13,000 entries are reserved for the marathon. 12,000 are for the half marathon.

Participants must be at least 12 years old on race day to register for the marathon and 7 years old on race day to register for the half marathon.

If you don't get selected, there's still a chance you could run in the 2015 race. There are spaces set aside for charities who are guaranteed entry, so if you want to take part in the Run For A Reason program, you can both run the marathon and help someone in need.
